Server Down

Sorry guys, our web host' server is down. Its up and running, but it is out of hard disk space. This means no new lay out for you. During this downtime there is no way to edit the site. I was able to put part of the new layout up on the main page. It's technically the test page because of the server problems, so there are minor content things to fix. As for the layout, it is not done yet. There are still a few minor things to tweak. The logo in the top right corner needs replacing still for one. But again, no uploading for now. So once things become active again I'll finish the upload. So  enjoy your sneak peak of the new layout...

Cheating and Pausing and Java?

  • Mood:
Well I know it has been awhile, things happen, but what can you do? Anyway I can successfully say the cheat engine is done. It has been fixed, finalized, and completely implemented into the game. It is working properly now and all cheats are in place. So be sure look for it in future games.

The pause engine, more success with that. It too is working properly. Everything now pauses and resumes on unpause. Best of all with the new system, I can now have objects created and destroyed when pausing. So the mouse can now be active during a pause. Also a menu is being implemented for when the game is paused. And all of this can now be done with out having to change rooms.

Saving has now been replaced with passwords. More finalization has been done. Tweaking components, finalizing other elements, fixing minor problems. Once the pause engine is done all we have to do is add few things that can be bought, and send it to post, to make it look pretty. And I do mean the full version too.

Java games on the site, the fine people working on that new java front-end for gaming have made progress. The first alpha has been released. So I will experiment with it when I'm not working on BD. It is still very limited and has bugs to be worked out so dont expect anything major just yet.

Save Problem Solved

Yes like it says, that Problem I had with saving is solved. The code now properly saves all instances of the object. I have not at the moment implemented it for all of objects. The code is actually a very simple code. But then again, I did not know of the With() function, so touche. Well, now all I have to do is finish the save script, then I will be able to move on to loading. The hard part of that is over. All of the problems of it have been solved. It is now just a matter of putting that new code bit in for all of the objects, and the script is done. So onward we go.

After that is done, and the loading script is done, I will just have to get Graphics and Sound done (not my department, yay), and the demo can be released. But even with all of that I will still have a few small features to add, and the Full Version will be done. I never thought I would finish it. The sooner I can get this project done and forget about it, the better.

My next games wont take as long. This was my first intro/ learning game. Now that I have learned, I have all the knoledge I need to do my games. I will be able to do my games no sweat. Things that once caused me a lot of trouble and time, I can now do easily. So my first real project is comming!

Progress

I'm making progress on the saving and load scripts. Well I'm working on them one at a time so the Load script will be worked on after the Save script. But either way I'm making progress. So far so good, it now saves the important things, but objects except you right now. That is the porblem I'm having and working on. You can now save the game as what ever you want. You dont have to type the file extension. There is no limit on the filename length. And it tells you what you saved your game as.

My only problem is saving multiple object instances. I've been working with the people on the forums, and the script is making progress. That part of the script now saves the right number instances of that object. Unfortunatly its of the same object. So, I will continue to work with them and hopefully I will have that script finished soon, and will begin work on loading.

As for the Loading script, I can already see a problem. Choosing the file to load. At the moment you will have to type the name of your saved game you want to load. This is ONLY for the beta versions. But  I will use a script that allows you to browse for the file you want to load. Its gonna be a little tricky, but I can do it. And besides, I read somewhere on the forum a dll that will do something similar. I will have to see what that is all about. But yes I will write a script that allows you to choose the game you want to load, and it will be used in all public versions.

Think I have found the solution

Ok I no I usually keep up with this, but I have been extreamly busy with school. It takes up all of my time now. But onward we go.

As for my  broken computer, I have determined that the bios chip is bad. After a lot of testing, studying and research, that was my conclusion. No thanks to motherboredpoint.com As nice as I was everyone ignored me. My new computer how ever, I have also determined that it needs new memory, that is coming soon. Its too bad my old one doesnt work. I was gonna set it up as Tetria's new Webserver, on a WiFi dsl network. It was gonna have 52gig's of storage too. But oh well.

As for Bomb Drop, I got the solution. Saving will not be taken out. But instead, im gonna save the files encoded into a bin file. It will baisicly "save without saving". A work around for this sound dll problem. I dont know if I will use it again in Agent 9. If all goes as planned, the full version will release at about the same time as the demo. The majority of the codeing for the full version is done. As soon as I have time I will get it done. Securing my academic future takes alot of work.

Our company, we are taking off. Seriously our name is finaly getting out there. *Thanks Matt*. I say this because, I always do what I can for advertising, and it payed off. I got an email for someone looking to do a bulk licensing deal. I had to decline for now, but we will someday. My Clock program was updated. I changed some algorithms, and I was golden. 12 hour clock now. I cant believe I didnt know how to do it ealier. Our mechamdise section? We may set one up at http://www.cafepress.com ,much like our affiliate Blueslushy.com has http://www.cafepress.com/blueslushy, that way we can save oursleves some effort cost, and agrivation.

On another note, we may get to re-skin the site. This time it will be better planned, more organized, and more user friendly. It will also be more apealing. Im gonna try to do this with the help of the ever great Kevin Rose, of digg.com and Revision3 Studios. Thats it for now.

Evil Problems

Ok, my other computer died, so these past few days I have been trying to get stuff from ebay.com to build a new one. So now I can finaly get back to work.

But, I am so, unhappy, in nice terms. That same sound problem came back. I don't know how. It was fixed and everything. But when I was working on the full version I noticed it came back. I am so dissapointed because now my solution isn't working anymore. I'll see what I can do.

See, the problem is, you can controll the sound on the main menu, but when you load a saved game, and pause it, you no longer have controll of the sound. Thats because, the game is trying to controll the instance of the sound from the main menu, even though it has been ended. What the game is not letting me do is create a new instace of the sound. I'l keep trying.

Its done

Bomb Drop is done, all the problems have finally been solved. I didn't think they ever would be. Still waiting on those sprites unfortunatly. I will talk to some people and see if we can rearange thigns heres to get things organized.

But in the mean time I have been working on some new simpler stuff. My plans are to finalize the full version of Bomb Drop and finish up that then I will press on hard to get Agent 9 out. That will probably be like a year of work for the full version. And then I will figure things out from there.

As you can tell all of the site work has been done. Our old online store has been removed. And if we do re-arange the compony alittle, we may have merchandise put, but merchandiseing is planned for the future though. I am also considering re-skinning the site, probably using FrontPage. I'll let you know

games and site stuff

As you know all of our sites and things are getting updated. Our online store at tetria.suddenlaunch3.com is closeing down as it is no longer necessary. The things on our random software page are getting updated too. There is a new version of drag race coming too. As for Bomb Drop, i'm still awaiting those last remaining sprites. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I also discovered a major problem with the sound. Its a definate "Make-Or-Break" problem.

Remember: even though all these changes are happening to the site the next few days, the sites will still be available.

Dual Game Release

Yes, the Dual Game Release was planned for today. And I made it. The games are done. And I must say, they came out awsome. No more problems. All of them have been fixed. But the last remaing sprites for Bomb Drop were not ready as planned. So I'm going to release the games in the next few days; as soon as they are ready.

moved date

As much as I don't want to say it, or dissapoint you, I have to move the release date of the demo. It's just these last details that are holding me up. Things are not ready like they should be. Problems. So I just have it out June 21. It will most definatly be out by the end of June so don't worry.

Update to the game: New, more realistic movement. Trying to add another particle system for one of the weapons. Maybe I'll do something more with the cheat system.
